Kinds of Forklifts

Forklifts are utilized inside warehouse and construction sites to lift and transport loads that are heavy. They are commonly found in material handling and other manufacturing industries. There are different kinds of forklifts designed for various kinds of applications.

The way forklifts are powered is the main difference between them. Some utilize internal combustion motors and several are electrical powered. For lifting loads which are heavy while maintaining minimum operating costs, electric forklifts are generally the best choice. Electric forklifts are usually found in indoor work sites. Internal combustion forklifts are recommended for outdoor applications.

A motorized drive, manual drive and fork truck are the three types of forklifts. Fork trucks are motorized and have backup alarms and cabs. Motorized drive forklifts usually have a protected seat for the operator. Manual drive forklifts are powered manually.

To prevent tipping, some forklifts are counterbalanced. Other safety factors include handrails or turntables. Specialty forklifts are available for specific uses. For example, narrow aisle forklifts are designed to work in very tight spaces. Rough-terrain forklifts work well on surfaces which are uneven and rocky.
