A type of equipment in the material handling business that could be utilized to raise and move loads from one place to another is called a forklift. Every part of a forklift has a specific function. Various parts can be utilized to move the load horizontally or vertically.

Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the parts which lower and lift the load. There are various types of masts utilized for lifting loads to different heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.

Power Supply
There are four various ways you could power a forklift: gas, electric, diesel and propane. The battery is situated in the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is beneath the back of the truck.

Cab
Located in the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all located inside the cab.

Frame
The frame of the truck carries all the biggest components of the forklift, including the counterweights, which are located at the rear so as to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
