Types of Aisles
Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are classed due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to operate in. These machinery can turn in an aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn in the aisle. There are several aisle widths to take into consideration with various units.
Very Narrow Aisle or VNA trucks work in less than 6 feet areas and normally use specific guidance systems such as rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel within the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks consist of Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are popular models in compact retail spaces and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks can operate in aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Generally these are stand-up units such as Reach Trucks. They are usually utilized in warehouses and storage facilities.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work in aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up models provide padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are designed to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is spacious and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent entry and exit. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat together with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and hence more effective while limiting exhaustion.
