Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They can run using liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for numerous applications. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the machinery has to be refueled.
When changing out an LP cylinder, you should really be careful in order to prevent possible serious injuries. For example: be sure to put on the correct safety equipment like heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Turn off the ignition of the forklift before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
